This week’s mandala asks us to take a look at that which we really want to do, be, have, decide, change, etc. and yet we somehow always keep putting it off (leaving it up on the air, so to speak) for some various reason or other…usually because of some fear disguised as a convenient excuse.
Changing it up for 2016!
Okay…so I’ve been a bit lax in maintaining this blog. To start off 2016 I’ve decided to change it up…to…
Week 34: On the Beach
To me the beach is one of the most peaceful places to be. It’s a place of constant movement; tides moving in and out, breezes blowing, and in the water the seaweed and kelp flow with the waves. This mandala started as a doodling; it’s when it was completed that it reminded me of the peaceful movement of kelp beneath the ocean surface.
Week 33: Funny Face
Funny Face reminds us to re-connect with our inner joy. It’s always there. We just have this nasty habit of covering it up with so much seriousness that we forget.
Week 32: Mountain Tops
The Mountain Tops mandala is one of a series of 21 asymmetry mandalas created over a 3-week period in autumn 2007. It consists of multiple upside-down “v”s going on into infinity.
Week 31: Falcon
This was one of many mandalas created after my trip to Egypt with my husband in 1999. This one was inspired by King Tut’s falcon amulet. The design reminds me of the rising phoenix, a transformation from out of the ashes.
Hiatus Coming to an End
So my “temporary” hiatus went a little longer than I had initially intended. I plan to be back on track…
Temporary Hiatus
I need to put the “Mandala of the Week” on temporary hiatus. I plan to resume the week of March…

Week 28: Pathway
“Pathway” For this mandala design, I created one full-color version using color pencils: My asymmetry mandalas come about by drawing…
Week 27: Shine On
The overall look of this mandala reminds me of a star portal, a stargate, that is fully open, allowing us a view of a world with two suns. The vertical square tube feels like a place where you could jump into, like jumping into a worm hole.
Week 26: Cosmic Sunflower
The “Cosmic Sunflower” mandala displays a simplified pattern (an oval with 8 protruding rays) repeated in fractal form in the upper and lower left sides of each ‘sunflower’, as it goes off the page into infinity.
Week 25: True Heart
“True Heart” “I love, honor, and respect all that I am” I created one full-color version using color pencils: This…
Week 24: Flare
“Flare” “In my stillness, comes my peace and joy” I created one full-color version using markers: While meditating and thinking…
Week 23: Celtic
The Celtic mandala is one of a series of 21 asymmetry mandalas created over a 3-week period in autumn 2007. It consists of one long tube that twists and turns, over and under itself 31 times.
Week 22: Wiggle Room
The Wiggle Room mandala is one of a series of 21 asymmetry mandalas created over a 3-week period in autumn 2007. It consists of seven vertical wavy lines and twelve horizontal straight lines. My asymmetry mandalas come about by drawing in-the-moment inspired doodles.
Week 21: Ahna
“Ahna” “There is peace in knowing that you are always there for me” For this mandala design, I created three…
Week 20: Fish
The Fish mandala is one of a series of 21 asymmetry mandalas created over a 3-week period in autumn 2007. It consists of nine vertical straight lines and five diagonal wavy lines. My asymmetry mandalas come about by drawing in-the-moment inspired doodles.
Week 19: Tut
This mandala was inspired by the decorative lid of a large alabaster box belonging to King Tut. I loved the multiple rows of detailed patterns which all lent itself even better in a circular mandala form.
