In 2006 I created my second version of the Primrose Mandala, the first being created in 2002. With this version, I used only color pencils. A few years ago I took it from behind a glass frame to put a clear wax coating over it. This protected it without having to put it behind glass which causes glare and makes it difficult to fully appreciate.
Now I’m being inspired to update the look of this mandala, to give it a little more depth, definition, and details.
By making it this week’s MotW, however, I need to scrape off as much of the wax as possible without damaging the art underneath before I can make any changes to it.
About “Primrose”
The Primrose Mandala message/affirmation I received after coloring the first version:
“I see where I am. I see where I’m going.
I choose to be on my own true path.”
The only way to find a true path is to know where we are in all aspects of our life. In essence it would serve use well to do an assessment (WITHOUT judgement) of where we currently stand with regards to our relationship with ourselves, with others, our work, our play, our home, the world, and everything in between.
When we know exactly where where we are, then we can evaluate what currently serves us well, what needs to change or what needs to be eliminated…and again WITHOUT judgement. In some cases we may find that what needs changing is our perspective or attitude. For instance, doing dishes triggers childhood agony for me and I do what I can to avoid them. It serves me better to focus on how much I love having quick access to clean dishes whenever I want one instead of be frustrated by realizing that I need to clean a frying pan before I can even use it.
Ultimately our path is joy without hindering the path of joy for others.
Choosing our true path is about being mindful of that which brings a joy and finding ways to do more of that.
About the Mandalas of the Week
Each week I choose one of my existing mandala paintings that wants to be upgraded OR create a new one and post it here. Throughout the week, I paint/draw/color/collage/etc it and post my progress on the Mandala of the Day. I post the upgraded version later in the week.
Happy Coloring!
joyfully,
Maureen
