Week 18: Essence of Being

“Essence of Being”

Essence of Being Mandala

“All that I am is Divine.”

For this mandala design, I created two full-color versions:

Essence of Being Mandala #1
Essence of Being Mandala #1 – color pencils, 12″ diameter

Essence of Being Mandala #2
Essence of Being Mandala #2 – markers, 6.5″ diameter

This design started out as a doodle and built upon itself. As I draw designs like this one, I start in the middle and draw out a simple idea; then I look at it and it just looks like something else needs to be added and each ring around builds on the previous one until I reach the 12 inch diameter edge.

In version #1, I used color pencils and incorporated the chakra colors as rings of color, with the sun-like center appearing to be glowing from behind.

In version #2, I decided to use 47 different marker colors to demonstrate that when deciding what colors to use, it’s how you lay them out vs the actual colors that makes the difference. I used two simple guideline: 1) alternate between light and dark colors; 2) keep similar colors apart. And rather than coloring the little tabs in rows of color, I spiraled out the colors; making it look likes it’s moving.

The Message

“Essence of Being” reminds us that at our core, we are, each and every one of us, spiritual beings having a human experience. Our challenge becomes maintaining that awareness as we go about our day-to-day lives.

“I am not this hair, I am not this skin. I am the soul that lives within.” ~Rumi

The more we separate ourselves from our divine essence, the more we are likely to experience  stress, anger, frustration, fears, and the like…keeping us asleep to our True Selves.

The easiest, fastest way to re-connect to our divine self, is to consciously take a deep breath. It brings us to the present moment…it wakes us up.

When we come from this perspective, we raise our vibration, elevate our awareness, and have a clearer vision and understanding of who we are and what best to do next.

How awesome would it be if all 6 billion+ of us took a deep conscious breath, all at the same time while declaring:

All that I am is Divine
All that you are is Divine
All that we are is Divine
