The atoms of our bodies
— Neil deGrasse Tyson
are traceable to stars
that manufactured them
in their cores
and exploded these enriched ingredients
across our galaxy, billions of years ago.
For this reason, we are biologically
connected to every other living thing
in the world.
We are chemically connected
to all molecules on Earth.
And we are atomically connected
to all atoms in the universe.
We are not figuratively,
but literally stardust.
“You and I are made of stardust.
— Bill Nye
We are the stuff of exploded stars.
We are therefore, at least 1 way
that the Universe knows itself.
That, to me, is astonishing.”
This week’s MotW reminds us how incredible it is that we are here and how it is we came to be here…right now and in this place. It also wants to remind us of how we are all interconnected and encourages us to find even the smallest trace of commonality in all of humankind, that we are all made of the same stuff, to focus on how we are more alike than we are different. And with that, a roadway to peace can be paved.
