In 2012 I created a series of Hyperbolic Tessellation Mandalas for the 12 signs of Astrology. I self-published them into a Mandalas to Color Calendar for 2013: Astrological Signs.
I plan to color all the signs by the end of the year. This week I continue with the sign of Scorpio.
About The Astrological Sign of Scorpio
For all of the signs I used their glyph symbol as the tessellated pattern within the mandala. The glyph of Scorpio represents the scorpion and its stinger.
For Scorpio, it’s all about getting to the bottom of things, digging deep to reveal the truth…either about themselves or the world around them. Then it’s all about transformation and rebirth. The house that Scorpio rules in our charts tells us where best to focus this investigative and transformational energy, looking under every rock and hidden corner. We are encouraged to dig deep and in the end we will be richly rewarded with buried treasure…our Truth.
Scorpio is the eight sign of the zodiac and rules the eighth house of other people’s money, taxes, debts, sex, rebirth, loss, and death. It’s a water element (emotions) and a fixed quality (stability, steadiness).
This mandala’s message to us:
“Love thyself..all of it. Scorpio’s rich, fluid energy wants us to honor every aspect of our selves especially those areas we hide from others and ourselves. Look at the whole of who we are…the dark, the light, and everything in between. Know that once we acknowledge every aspect of ourselves, we are then free to transform any of it to whatever we desire.”
About the Mandalas of the Week
Each week I choose one of my existing mandala paintings that wants to be upgraded OR create a new one and post it here. Throughout the week, I paint/draw/color/collage/etc it and post my progress on the Mandala of the Day. I post the upgraded version later in the week.
