In 2012 I created a series of Hyperbolic Tessellation Mandalas for the 12 signs of Astrology. I self-published them into a Mandalas to Color Calendar for 2013: Astrological Signs.
I plan to color all the signs by the end of the year. This week I continue with the sign of Taurus.
About The Astrological Sign of Taurus – ♉
For all of the signs I used their glyph symbol as the tessellated pattern within the mandala. The ♉ of Taurus represents a bull’s head with horns. When repeated in a circle it created a 1960’s flower power look. It begs to be psychedelic. We’ll see.
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and rules the second house of values (personal: self worth; possessions: money, objects of value). It’s an earth element (practical, productive) and a fixed quality (stable, slow and steady).
This mandala’s message to us:
“Time to pretty things up a bit. What could use some enhancing or beautifying? You? Your wok place? Your home? The peaceful, earth-loving Taurus energy thrives in beautiful surroundings. Buy a piece of art that makes you feel good. Make a peace garden on your window sill or in your yard. Re-arrange the furniture so the energy flows better. Then enjoy it.”
About the Mandalas of the Week
Each week I choose one of my existing mandala paintings that wants to be upgraded OR create a new one and post it here. Throughout the week, I paint/draw/color/collage/etc it and post my progress on the Mandala of the Day. I post the upgraded version later in the week.
