16-30: Golden Yellow Mandala

Golden Yellow Mandala by Maureen Frank

Download this week’s Mandala of the Week

In meditation to receive this week’s mandala of the week design, this imagery popped into my head. Since sketching it out I keep hearing the words “solar flare” over and over again. So I’m thinking this must have something to do with solar flares.

The Science-y Stuff:

From NASA’s Solar Storm/Space Weather FAQ page it states:

A solar flare is an intense burst of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots. … They are seen as bright areas on the sun and they can last from minutes to hours. We typically see a solar flare by the photons (or light) it releases, at most every wavelength of the spectrum. … Flares are also sites where particles (electrons, protons, and heavier particles) are accelerated.

From NASA Goddard’s spectacular and stunningly beautiful 4-minute video they state:

On July 19, 2012 … A moderately powerful solar flare exploded on the sun … Next came a CME [coronal mass ejection] … And then, the sun treated viewers to one of its dazzling magnetic displays — a phenomenon known as coronal rain [about 1 minute in].

From NASA’s beautiful and meditative Thermonuclear Art 30-minute video it states:

…the sun also sends out a constant flow of particles called the solar wind, and it occasionally erupts with giant clouds of solar material, called coronal mass ejections, or explosions of X-rays called solar flares. These events can rattle our space environment out to the very edges of our solar system.

This Week…

We are the sun, the moon and the stars. Like solar flares, we radiate energy (consciously and unconsciously) in all directions, in varying sizes and proportions. How we think, how we feel, affects everything starting with our own internal experience and expanding outward to our external experience. When we change that, we change our lives…for better or worse depending on our perspective, our conscious awareness, and/or how we choose to be in every given moment.

This week’s mandala reminds us of our own inner power, our third chakra, and becoming consciously aware of it and how we use it. From The Chopra Center regarding the third chakra as written by Michelle Fondin:

Located around the navel in the area of the solar plexus and up to the breastbone, it is a source of personal power and governs self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation. …

When you feel self-confident, have a strong sense of purpose, and are self-motivated, your third chakra is open and healthy. If your third chakra is out of balance, you can suffer from low self-esteem, have difficulty making decisions, and may have anger or control issues. The element is fire and the color is yellow, bright like the sun.

Some suggestions to enhance our coloring experience this week:

  • We may find it helpful and inspiring to play NASA’s 30-minute video…turning it into a more meditative experience
  • Follow some/all of Michelle’s third chakra suggestions
  • Recite a powerful mantra while coloring; which, along with empowering us, radiates outward to empower others to also embrace their own inner Power and Light.

I choose Power
All that I Am is enough
I allow my Inner Light to shine
I Love and Accept myself just as I Am
I am the Light of God, whole and complete just as I Am

Happy Coloring!

joyfully,

Maureen
