In our modern culture “being green” acquired a new meaning of honoring and protecting the planet by enacting environmentally friendly habits. It already meant being jealous (ie: green with envy).
For our purposes today, we focus on the metaphysical, the energy systems of our body. In particular the the fourth chakra, the heart chakra, located around the upper torso area of the heart and lungs. In this system, this chakra resonates with the color green.
The design reminds me of a flower bud, preparing to open. I love how the bud looks like six hearts around the center. The leaves surrounding it support and protect this process.
The mandala asks us to open our hearts to receive love.
From The Chopra Center web site they offer these suggestions for doing just that:
The best way to receive love is to give it. Author and motivational speaker, Leo Buscaglia, used to teach that we should give and receive 12 hugs a day for optimal health. So give hugs and kisses. Other ways you can give love:
- Smile at everyone you see daily, even if you don’t feel like smiling. It’s contagious.
- Forgive and move on. Life is too short to hold grudges.
- Give friends, family and co-workers positive affirmations and feedback.
- Try to go one day a week without criticizing anyone or anything, including yourself.
Take any opportunity you can to foster love and loving feelings. Love is a currency and whatever you give will come back to you.
