Week 26: Cosmic Sunflower

The “Cosmic Sunflower” mandala displays a simplified pattern (an oval with 8 protruding rays) repeated in fractal form in the upper and lower left sides of each ‘sunflower’, as it goes off the page into infinity.

Week 22: Wiggle Room

The Wiggle Room mandala is one of a series of 21 asymmetry mandalas created over a 3-week period in autumn 2007. It consists of seven vertical wavy lines and twelve horizontal straight lines. My asymmetry mandalas come about by drawing in-the-moment inspired doodles.

Resurrection Mandala Design

Week 6: Resurrection

Prior to 2005 I had created to King Tut inspired mandalas. By 2005 I wanted to create another one. This one is my interpretation of a amulet/necklace worn by King Tut and on display at the Cairo Museum. The center scarab in this case represents Tut being carried off to the afterlife in a boat. The cobras and other scarabs are there to protect him on his journey.
