25-47 Commitment

Mandala of the Week 25-47 Commitment — in color with varying shades of green with gold trim

Pilgrimage of Healing and Consciousness

For 2025, we’re embarking on a 52-week pilgrimage of inward healing, growth, and self-discovery…and ultimately, peace…regardless of whether the healing is related to addiction, grief, or any other challenge we seek to overcome.

Mile 47 of our pilgrimage. This week we look at the concept of commitment. Essentially, and quite simply, we’re encouraged to do what we say we’re going to do. And if we’re not able to do so, own up to it and let the appropriate people know…and the sooner the better.

Think of a commitment as a contract. Before “signing on” to it, it behooves us to take an extra moment to assess whether or not we are ready, willing, and able to “sign on” or not. It serves all parties concerned better if we can figure this out before we automatically say “yes” or “no” to it. It’s about honoring and respecting the commitment and the people connected with that commitment.

Along with honoring our commitments to others, it’s just as important (if not more so), to honor the commitments we make to ourselves. Too often we make a commitment to ourselves and because it only affects us, it makes it too easy to slack off or to ignore it completely.

As we’re getting closer to the end of this year, now would be an excellent time for us to honestly assess our current, as well as upcoming, commitments, including the ones we have yet to start.

By doing so we can better determine which ones to keep, which ones to postpone, and which was to release. It’s important that we give ourselves the gift of our time to do this. It makes us more accountable, trustworthy, and more likely to stay on track, and ultimately boost our self-confidence with future commitments.

How about you ? What’s one commitment you’ve been putting off doing/finishing that would be such a relief when it’s done ? What’s the why for agreeing to this commitment ? Whether it’s a commitment to yourself or someone else, what would you guess is your reason for putting it off ?

About the 2025 Mandalas of the Week

Each week I will create a new mandala design to color, along with my coloring of it, and a weekly message and prompt for us to continue on our quest throughout the year. All of which is inspired by Melody Beattie’s book entitled “52 Weeks of Consciousness Contact”.

I will be breaking down each week’s topic into daily insights and images (inspired by Melody’s book) on my blog site: MandalaoftheDay.com where I’ll be creating/building one giant mandala (48”x48”), one puzzle piece of it each day.

May Peace Prevail on Earth and in our Hearts
